Issey Miyake Perfumes - Perfection In A Bottle
Famed designer Issey Miyake of Japanese origin launched his first designer perfume in 1992 and has since created an acclaimed line of fragrances considered to be among the best in the world. He expanded to include a fragrance for men two years after his debut, and he built upon this foundation gradually for a full line of perfumes and colognes today.
His first fragrance, L'eau d'Issey (which translates as "Issey's Water") was named as a kind of in-joke between Issey and Chantal Roos, who managed the perfume's creation. This was because Issey was convinced that the only smell he would like would be that of water. Ironically, the fragrance collection became a key influencer of the Nineties trend for light acqueous floral perfumes.
Issey Miyake perfumes range from light and airy to deep and heady in aroma. Le Feu d'Issey Light, for example, is the epitome of perfection for a clear spring or summer day, with a very light scent that will be picked up by the breeze and subtly distributed. This blend of silky amber, rose, bergamot, gardenia, and gaiac wood creates a uniquely intense but quiet aroma.
Two scents in the Issey Miyake perfume line are reminiscent of the smell of the sea, bringing with them the sense of a clear, ocean breeze on a warm day at the beach. L'Eau d'Issey is full of marine notes and, had proven a consumer favorite. Its partner, L'Eau d'Issey Summer, is a similar fragrance with a lighter, warmer tone that speaks to the heat blowing in over the ocean on a summer day, as opposed to the original, which is more atuned to late spring or early fall. Both fragrances are clearly casual wear and perfect for daytime use.
Issey Miyake perfumes also offer more sensual overtones with Reflections in a Drop. While still offering the heady scent of aquatic breezes and sea foam blends, this particular fragrance is also laced with hints of lotus, mimosa, and a warm musk to add depth and sexuality to the bright water base.
A Scent is yet another of the genius Issay Miyake perfumes on the market that has met with success. A perfect fragrance for the minimalist, it led the way for other designers to create less heady scents with its notes of jasmine and hyacinth being the loudest fragrances, and hints of cedar, French verbena, and lemon wafting just beneath the surface.
